If you would like to attend your graduation ceremony then you must be eligible to attend and you must book a place:

  • There is no charge for you to book your place.
  • To attend you must book in advance.
  • Once you book, we will reserve your seat.
  • You must keep a record of your booking, which will be sent via email. You will need this on the day to check into your ceremony.
  • We advise that you do not confirm any travel arrangements or accommodation until your graduation place is booked.


Graduating in Absentia

If you do not book a place, you will graduate in adbsentia. This does not affect your award or graduate status, and you will receive your certificate as normal.

Graduating in Absentia means you fully graduate without attending your graduation ceremony:

  • You will still receive your graduation award certificate by post (for more information see the Awards page)
  • Your name will be in the graduation brochure (check for an 'on the day' page on the Graduations webpage the day after the graduation ceremony).

Deferring your place

If you are unable to attend the Spring 2025 ceremonies, you can choose to defer to the Autumn 2025 ceremonies. Please note you can only defer a ceremony once, to a ceremony within the next 12 months.

How to book your place

  • All tickets are booked or purchased via Eventbrite.
  • All eligible graduands will receive an invitation by email (booking is by invitation only).
  • For timings on when to expect your invitation email please see here

Please do not forget to apply for your visa(if required).

The booking process is as follows:

  1. You will receive an email with a link to book and an access code that is uniquely assigned to you. Please note that this code only to be used by you and is non-transferable.
  2. Go to the booking page. You will need to enter a Access Code to unlock your ticket. When prompted, enter the code provided in your email.
  3. Follow the instructions to book your place. You will not have the option to book guest tickets at this time.
  4. Once booked, you will receive a confirmation email with your e-ticket attached. The email will also contain further instructions and information, including how to purchase guest tickets.
  5. Purchase any guest tickets you require. You will receive a confirmation email with your guest tickets attached.

Guest Tickets
In addition to booking your own place, you can also purchase guest tickets for friends and/or family.

  • Each guest ticket is £30
  • You can book as many guest tickets as you like. However, there is a limited number and they are available on a first come first served basis, so we recommend you book as soon as possible.
    • If you are booking using Eventbrite, you will receive an access code. You will need this to book your guest tickets. You can use the same access code provided in your graduand invitiation to book guest tickets. You can reuse your code as often as you wish.
    • For Manchester box office guest tickets, you will be able to book directly through the link provided to you after booking your graduand ticket.
  • Children under 4 years old do not require a ticket, However, Children over the age of 4 years old require a seat and will need a guest ticket.

We advise that your guests do not confirm any travel arrangements or accommodation until your graduation place is booked. 


How to purchase guest tickets

  1. Once you have booked your place, you will receive a confirmation email. In this email there will be a link to the guest ticketing page. 
  2. Go to the guest ticket page. You will need to enter an access code to unlock the tickets. This will be the same code provided in your invitation email. This code can be reused if you wish to book more tickets at a later date.
  3. Follow the instructions to book to purchase any tickets.
  4. You will receive a confirmation with your guest tickets. Please make sure that if your guests will be arriving separately, they have a copy of these tickets so they can be admitted into the venue.
