To attend your ceremony and cross the stage you will be expected to wear academic dress (gown, hood and hat) which reflects the award you have attained.
We have an established partnership with gowning and photography company Ede & Ravenscroft, who have supplied the academic dress specifically for BPP and will hire them to you on the day of your graduation. As part of our partnership with Ede & Ravenscroft, we receive a commission from the gown hire and associated Ede & Ravenscroft merchandise sales. This commission contributes to the costs of hosting the graduation and helps us to ensure that BPP graduand tickets can remain complimentary to all attendees.
Ede & Ravenscroft provide photographers at the graduation venue so you can have professional pictures taken, either of you on your own or with your guests.
All gowns and professional photography must be booked and paid for in advance.
How to book:
Once you have booked your place at a graduation ceremony, instructions will be provided in the confirmation email on how to sign up to Ede & Ravenscroft to book your gown and any photography packages.
If you do not book in advance, then on-the-day bookings are more expensive and Ede & Ravenscroft cannot confirm availability.
If you need to amend or cancel your photography or gown, you will need to do this on the Ede & Ravenscroft website as BPP will be unable to make these changes on your behalf.
Gowning:
There are two main types of gowns - Bachelor and Masters:
- Bachelor gowns are black and have short sleeves.
- Masters' gowns are black and have long sleeves
The colour of your hood reflects the BPP award that you are receiving.
As BPP's official academic dressmakers, Ede & Ravenscroft:
- Have made a stock of gowns and hoods bespoke for your degree
- Ensure your correct academic dress (gown, hood and hat) is available to hire
- Provides a team on your graduation day to:
- Issue you with your gown before the ceremony and help fit it
- Adjust your gown and hat just before you cross the stage
- Collect your gown after your ceremony
Ede & Ravenscroft only provide full academic dress package (gown, hood and hat): if you hire your academic dress from an alternative provider you must ensure it includes all 3 items as a single gown, hood or hat cannot be provided on the day, and you should also check that the colours and style are correct for your award.
Dress code
Graduation is a formal occasion and it is expected that guests and graduands wear smart clothing. We welcome national dress and military uniforms. Jeans, T-shirts, trainers and similar casual attire are not considered appropriate for graduation ceremonies.
We recommend that outfits worn by graduands contain a button at chest level to help secure the graduation hood in position. We also recommend that you bring safety pins and hair grips to secure your hood and hat.
Ede & Ravenscroft will have several professional photographers at your graduation ceremony so you can book a session to get pictures taken of you in your graduation gown.
Once you have booked your graduation place, you will be able to book one of several photography packages which Ede & Ravenscroft provide, so you can get professional pictures of yourself or you with your guests.
Photography sessions get reserved very quickly so we recommend you book your session early, once you have booked your place at the ceremony.
